Internet, the “Net,” the “Web:” it's a worldwide network of information and entertainment accessible through computer and modem. Even if your children are more comfortable using computers than you are, your involvement can help them be “street smart” on the Information Highway and ensure that their experience is a positive one.
The Garfield County Public Library District does not monitor and has no control over the information accessed through the Internet and cannot be held responsible for its contents. As with other library materials, any restriction of a child's access to the Internet is the responsibility of the parent or legal guardian. Visit The American Library Association's Guide to Cyberspace for Parents and Kids. It's a good place to begin learning about and exploring the Internet. Also, The American Library Association's 700+ Great Sites for Kids provides a huge assortment of recommended sites. The Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County has produced a brochure entitled MySpace for Parents. Click here to open this document. Below we have provided two animated audio books from Tumblebooks.
