Rifle Branch Library
One of the unique features of the Rifle Branch Library is our stained glass window that commemorates Theodore Roosevelt’s visits to this area around the turn of the century. This window was originally in the Presbyterian Church at the corner of 4th and Whiteriver. When the building was being turned into a private residence, a group of community oriented folks set out to save the entire collection of windows. They raised $30,000.00 and now the windows are located in buildings throughout Rifle. Stop by the library to pick up a history of the windows, check out Mark Twain on the West side of the building and come inside to see what else we have to feed your mind. The Rifle Branch has moved to a temporary location at 139 W. Third Street. The temporary location will house our entire collection while the old branch is demolished and a beautiful new branch is built along East Avenue between Second and Third Streets. (Don't worry; the Roosevelt window has been restored and is safely stored for display in the new building!) The new branch will open in fall 2010. Follow our building updates.
