Don't miss Director Amelia Shelley's updates on all of our building projects and our Building Project FAQ.We've moved to our temporary location! To facilitate the renovation of the Parachute Branch, the library has relocated to a temporary location in downtown Parachute. Inside, you'll find the same great books, movies, internet access, and helpful staff. The temporary branch is located at the northwest corner of the intersection of Fisher and Hill, near the old high school; turn north at Lift-Up on First Street and the branch is the yellow building ahead on your left.
GroundbreakingGroundbreaking for the Parachute Branch renovation took place on December 17, 2009. Turnout was good, despite the frigid temperature! Garfield County Commissioner Mike Samson, Board President Nella Barker, and Executive Director Amelia Shelley addressed the crowd before wielding shiny shovels to officially kick-start construction. Afterward, Library Board members and the public mingled over refreshments and schematic drawings of the renovation. The branch will move to a temporary space in January to provide the same great materials and service while the current building is renovated. Stay tuned to find out when the branch will close for the move and when it will reopen in the temporary space. The temporary space is located in downtown Parachute, at the northwest intersection of Fisher and Hill. Call the branch at 970-285-9870 for more information.
