Summer Reading 2014

adultss summer reading

Don't let the kids have all the fun! "Literary Elements," the Adult Summer Reading program, is a chance to discover groundbreaking reads, connect with other readers, share about books you have read, and win prizes.

From May 31 through July 26, each Garfield County Library will be promoting the love of reading by presenting a special event for anyone age 18 and over. Sign up begins online or at your local branch library May 31.

This summer we will continue our “Read Every Day” format and encourage everyone to read at least 20 minutes each day, five days a week. Stop by your local branch to pick up a reading log bookmark.  For each completed bookmark returned you will receive a library book buck. Book bucks can be redeemed at your library to pay for book sale items, overdue fines, photocopies, faxes, ear buds and flash drives.

Every two weeks each branch will have a drawing for a $25 gift certificate with the winner’s name drawn from the bookmarks turned in during that two-week period. At the end of the summer each branch will also hold a drawing for a grand prize Kindle Fire. All adult bookmarks turned in over the summer will be included in its drawing.

Beyond reading and prizes, each library branch will offer a variety of exciting events for adults including family film nights, gardening workshops, eReader workshops, and even a  Lit Crawl! Check with your local library for details.
