A Rockin' Good Time
We are kicking off the Teen Summer Reading Program with a rock party. The theme this year is Beneath the Surface and what do we frequently find there? Rocks! We will be painting rocks, playing Rock Party/Guitar Hero on the Wii, and eating pop rocks. Come and start your summer off like a "rock" star.

Youth Volunteer Orientation
Anyone aged 12-18 who is interested in volunteering for the New Castle Library this summer is invited to a Volunteer Orientation on Thursday, June 6 at 1:00 pm. This is your opportunity to earn volunteer hours for college or just to become more involved in your community. The orientation will prepare you to be an active volunteer for summer programs and other regular duties in the library. Come, have fun and volunteer!
Volunteers are asked to sign-up prior to the orientation and have a permission slip signed by a parent.

A Poem in My Pocket
"In my pocket I placed a poem,
to share with those in need.
A poem so colorful and full of life,
It lifted up souls indeed."
Each week in April at the Rifle Branch Library you are invited to try your hand at writing a poem in various formats. The catch? You must first pluck a piece of paper from the Poetic Pockets on the wall and use the words that are on that piece of paper in your poem. When you have finished your masterpiece, turn it in at the front desk so that we may share it with our community.
