Teen Bowling for Books
All teens in the New Castle Branch Library and Silt Branch Library Summer Reading Programs are invited to Bowl for Books at the Burning Mountain Bowl on Monday, July 23rd at 3:00 pm. Space is limited, so please sign up to attend at your home library. Admission is one summer reading log. Grades 7-12 only, please.
Basic Troubleshooting Workshop for Mac Users
Go2Workshops@YourLibrary features a Basic Troubleshooting Workshop for Mac Users. This workshop will teach users what to do when things go wrong. Bring your Mac and your questions! This workshop will be taught by ByteMarks owner, Donna Dalton.

Computers for Beginners, Level 1
Go2Workshops@YourLibrary is offering a Computers for Beginners, Level 1 workshop! This workshop is for true beginners – no computer experience necessary. This class introduces computer vocabulary including both hardware and software terms. Learn to use the mouse and keyboard. Learn basic computer tasks in a Windows environment, and learn the differences between a document and a program. There are classes offered for both English and English Learning participants. All you need is the willingness to learn! Sign up in advance by calling or visiting your local branch.
Successful Transitions Workshop for High School Students
Go2Workshops@YourLibrary features a Successful Transitions Workshop for high school juniors and seniors! This 2-hour workshop is designed to help students prepare for a successful transition to post-secondary education or employment by helping students prepare winning resumes and cover letters. This workshop is divided into two parts: the first hour will feature an interactive lecture, and the second hour will give students the opprotunity for individualized assistance. Bring your laptop and current resume or cover letter if you'd like, or just bring yourself and willingness to learn!
Celtic Guitar Concert with Jerry Barlow
Jerry Barlow is returning to Garfield County! Don't miss Jerry Barlow's returning performance at the Silt Branch Library on Thursday, May 17 at 7pm. His music is said to have the power to transport listeners across time and space on an imaginary jouney to a rustic Irish fishing village, the misty Scottish Highlands, or an anceint English forest. His Celtic melodies are characterized by wonderfully warm and expressive guitar stylings. Call 876-5500 for more information!
Popcorn & a Movie
There is no school for RE-2 students on Monday, May 7. The Silt Branch Library will be showing the newly-released DVD "Puss in Boots" and serving popcorn at 1:00pm. Call 876-5500 for more information.
Trees, Gardens & Evasive Ornaments
CSU Master Gardeners will be giving a presentation at the Silt Branch Library on Tuesday, April 17 from 6:30-8:00pm about best local gardening practices. Come prepared to learn new tips and have all your gardening questions answered! Light refreshments will be served.
Earth Day Trash Cleanup & Scavenger Hunt
Celebrate Earth Day by doing something to make your community better. The Silt Branch Library is encouraging middle and high school kids to come in on Saturday, April 14 from 12:00-3:00pm to take part in our trash cleanup and scavenger hunt. All who attend will be served Subway sandwiches, chips, and drinks! After lunch, kids will go out in groups on a treasure hunt to learn more about their own community while they pick up trash off the streets.
Essay Contest & Pizza Party
To celebration Teen Tech Week the Silt Branch LIbrary is hosting an essay contest. Write about going back or forward 50 years in time. What technology would you take back or what would you find? See a librarian for full details.
Then come read your essay at the pizza party. The best 3 essays each win a $10 gift card!
