Parachute Storytime On the Road: Construction Site
Storytime goes on the road to a construction site! FCI Constructors, Inc. will host and guide storytimers through a special access tour of the building process. With the opportunity to see earth movers and big machines, FCI will also provide children with safety hard hats that fit just right.
This special storytime will be held on Monday, June 24 at 11:00 am and located at Sipprelle Drive and Spencer Parkway, near Clark's Market on Battlement Mesa.
Carbondale Storytime On the Road for Kids Ages 1-5
Storytime will be held off-site while the library is closed in preparation for moving to the new building. But, not to fear, children and parents/caregivers can still enjoy fun books, songs, and arts and crafts with Jeanine. The only difference will be the location!
This storytime will take place at the Carbondale Town Hall on corner of Colorado and 4th at 10:30 am on Thursday, June 27 at 10:30 am.
Children will also be able to turn in Summer Reading Program bookmarks and pick up prizes from 10:00-10:30 am and 11:30am-noon.

This special firefighter-themed storytime will be held at the Carbondale Fire House's meeting room at 301 Meadowood Drive on Thursday, July 11 at 10:30 am. After storytime, we will be able to tour the fire station, time permitting.

This special nature-themed storytime will include guest performances by forest rangers and a chance to explore natural objects and will be held at the Forest Service office in Carbondale at 620 Main Street.

Storytime is going on the Road to Clark's Market. Join the Parachute Branch Library for storytime and a tour to find out what goes on behind the milk! Children of all ages are invited.
This special storytime takes place Monday, June 10 at 11:00 a.m. at 71 Sipprelle Drive on Battlement Mesa.

Old Timers Remember Hard Times of the Depression: Interviews with Walter Gallacher
Walter Gallacher, creator of Immigrant Stories, a series of interviews which appears in the Glenwood Post and on KDNK Community Radio has teamed with Garfield County Library for The Big Read: The Grapes of Wrath, by interviewing locals who lived through the Great Depression of the 1930's.
Bilingual Book Discussion on "Esperanza Rising"
The Gordon Cooper Branch Library is hosting a bilingual book discussion on the award-winning book, “Esperanza Rising,” at the Carbondale Middle School on Tuesday, February 12th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
“Esperanza Rising” is a story of a Latino family during hard times and is offered in both Spanish and English. “Esperanza Rising” is a Big Read companion title for younger readers and is available at your local library.

The Gordon Cooper Library in Carbondale invites middle schoolers to be a part of the Big Read by reading and discussing “Out of the Dust” by Karen Hesse, a riveting tale about a Dust Bowl child. What better way to learn about the Great Depression than through the words of the hero, Billie Jo, as she describes the days when ʺdust piles up like snow across the prairie...ʺ Join the discussion at the Carbondale Middle School on Tuesday, February 19th at 12:30 p.m.
