Come and discover how American music from the twentieth century has influenced modern American culture during this six-week program series. "America's Music: A Film History of Our Popular Music from Blues to Bluegrass to Broadway" will be hosted on Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm beginning October 16 and running until November 20 at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library. The program series features documentary film screenings and scholar-led discussions of twentieth-century American popular music.
Garfield County Libraries is pleased to present free hip hop dance lessons for teens ages 12 and up in conjunction with the America’s Music film and discussion series taking place in October and November. Hip Hop Dance Lessons for Teens will be held on Wednesday, October 2 from 7:15 - 8:15 pm. We’ll have dance instructors from the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts here to show you how to bust a move. No previous dance experience required!

Garfield County Libraries is pleased to present free partner dance lessons in conjunction with the America’s Music film and discussion series occuring in October and November. Maurine Taufer, Dance Director from the Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts, has taught, directed, and choreographed for over 22 years. She’ll be teaching swing and ballroom style partner dances. Whether you have two left feet, no dance experience, or just want to have fun and learn something new -- this class is for you! A dance partner is not needed to attend.
Come play Wii games with us at the Carbondale Library! We will also do a game swap. Bring your old games from any system and trade them with others. Snacks provided. This event takes place the fourth Thursday of every month at 4:00 pm as part of our Middle School Madness! series.
Come to the Carbondale Branch Library on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 4:00 pm for popcorn and a movie! For kids in grades K-5. This month, we will be showing "Pooh's Heffalump Halloween Movie" to celebrate Halloween!
Are you good with words? Battle your friends and neighbors in our Words With Friends tournament! We'll have the iPads from our TabLab set up and ready for gaming. Bring your friends or your Words With Friends rivals. The winner will take home a prize! This tournament will take place at the Carbondale Branch Library on Thursday, October 17 at 4:00 pm.
For kids in grades K-5. Want to play a game? We've got card games, Dominoes, Checkers, Trouble, Uno, and more. Music? We'll be streaming or playing CDs as well as providing rhythm instruments to jam and dance along. This program takes place at 4:00 pm the third Tuesday of every month at the Carbondale Branch Library.
Come to the Carbondale Branch Library on the second Tuesday of every month from 4:00 to 5:00 pm for PAWS to READ! Children in grades K-5 can sign up to read to the dogs for approximately 15 minutes. Featuring dogs and handlers/literacy specialists from Heeling Partners of the Roaring Fork Valley.
Improve your art skills or learn something new as we work on a project with a local artist. We will feature a different project and artist every month! This month, join us for Teen Artist Workshop to work on a paper collage project with local artist Katherine Rich. This program will be held on Thursday, October 3 at 4:00 pm at the Carbondale Branch Library.
