First Friday in Carbondale: Celebrating The Grapes of Wrath
Garfield County Libraries is kicking off The Big Read 2013 with John Steinbeck's "The Grapes of Wrath" at First Friday in Carbondale at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st.
Y'all come to downtown Carbondale to enjoy the bonfire, sing and dance to music of Slide Whistle, and meet the book's main characters, the Joads, as they camp alongside Route 66--all right outside the Gordon Cooper Branch Library at the Fourth Street Plaza on Main Street. RFHS students will be portraying the Joad family and sharing hot drinks. The library celebration will be a part of the town of Carbondale's once a month open family gathering. As always there will be carriage rides, open galleries, and special events all over the town starting at 5:30 p.m.
For more information, contact the Gordon Cooper Branch Library at (970) 963-2889.
