Meet Your Librarian: Amy Wright!

Amy is an overachiever. This is something she will freely admit. Anything she does, she does with all of her heart and soul. Amy has been the Youth Services Librarian at the Rifle Branch for 3 years. She absolutely loves the storytime kids and they love her. They come into the library asking, “Where is Miss Amy?” They are ready for songs, flannel board stories and a new adventure with books. Maybe one of the reasons the kids love Miss Amy so much is because she doesn’t mind being goofy.

Amy grew up reading Stephen King. She started when she was 11 with Salem’s Lot. Now she focuses more on non-fiction books and Young Adult authors to try to figure out what the teen set is reading.

When Amy is not at the library, she loves to ride her bike all over Hubbard Mesa. Her favorite ride is a 13 mile loop that goes up and down hills and all across the mesa. She says this is a wonderful way to burn off stress and get in touch with the things that are really important.

Amy, her husband Colin, and their daughter Jade have discovered the exciting hobby of geocaching. When they first started out, they would just find the “treasures.” Then Amy thought it would be great fun to build their own caches and then hide them. She enlisted Colin’s help and they have made some amazing caches. Their caches range from tree limbs to space ships. If you are interested in finding their geocaches, log onto www.geocaching.com. You will have to register but it’s free. Amy and Colin have created a total of 9 caches so far, which are listed under happydog67. Maybe you will get the geocaching bug and find treasures of your own.
