Participate in the New Carbondale Branch Library's Art Installation
Local artist, Shannon Muse of Paradise Art Glass, is creating a permanent public art installation, entitled “Pillars of Light/Pilares de Luz,” for the new Carbondale Branch Library.
The multi-part sculptural piece will form the seven entryway columns on the front porch of the new library.
Each pillar will include a number of tiles featuring thoughts on libraries, learning, enlightenment, and community. Garfield County Libraries and Shannon Muse invite community members to submit content to be embedded in the columns—such as quotes, words, numbers, or symbols. Participants are asked to include information about their submission, such as what it means to them. There is no fee for submitting an idea, and the artist will select up to 144 different entries for inclusion. Submission forms are available by clicking here or at the Carbondale Branch Library. Contact Shannon Muse at paradiseartglass@sopris.net for more information about participating in the creation of the piece or submitting an idea. The Carbondale Branch Library project is currently under construction and is slated for completion in the summer of 2013. Contact Executive Director, Amelia Shelley, if you have questions about this project or available donor opportunities.
