Soup Kitchen and Jamboree
Garfield County Libraries invites you to an old-fashioned gathering on Sunday, February 24 from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Third Street Center to celebrate the spirit of sharing during the ʺhard timesʺ of the Great Depression, as depicted in the great American classic, “The Grapes of Wrath.” For this Big Read event, we'll have soup and bread for all. After you get a bite to eat, check out the Jamboree emceed by Jack Green and featuring students from the RFHS choral class; guitar students from GSHS; The Slide Whistle Band; the Library's Pied Piper, Sue Schnitzer; excerpts read by students from the RFHS Grapes of Wrath Book Club; and local dancers kicking up their heels!
This free program is sponsored by the Gordon Cooper Branch Library, Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities, Colorado Rocky Mountain School, and Jimmy Johns.
We welcome you to get in the spirit of “The Grapes of Wrath,” wear your overalls, and bring a little something to share with your neighbors for The Big Read 2013.
