The Big Read is back! The temperature at which the pages of a book catch fire and burn: Fahrenheit 451. The place at which reading catches fire this winter: your library. During the month of February the Garfield County Libraries are excited to present The Big Read featuring Ray Bradbury's classic science fiction novel, Fahrenheit 451. Learn more or go directly to our event guide.

Food for Fines is in effect at all Garfield County Libraries during the month of February. For each non-perishable food item you bring to your local branch library, $1 of your overdue fines will be forgiven. All food items will be donated to your community's Lift-Up. Suggested items include cereal, hearty soups or chili, and canned vegetables or fruit. Help others while reducing your library fines! For more information, contact your local branch. Credit will only be applied to current overdue fines (sorry, you can't "bank" credit for future fines!); this program does not apply to lost items or fees.

The Library District is rolling full-steam-ahead on building projects in Rifle and Parachute! The Rifle Branch Library has moved to a temporary location at the corner of W. Third St and West Avenue so construction can start on the new library and civic plaza. Read a building project update from our Director, Amelia Shelley.
