Garfield County Public Library District borrowing privileges are extended free of charge to residents of Garfield County, to residents of Colorado counties which border Garfield County, and also to Colorado residents who present a valid library card from a Colorado library which participates in the Colorado Library Card Program. Garfield County residents may apply for a card online; non-residents should apply for a card at any of our branches when in the area (see the Eligibility section below for ID requirements).

Please note that applying for a card online will grant you an Internet Only card which allows you to use our online resources and computers; to receive full borrowing privileges you must show photo ID and proof of address at a branch library. Only one card is allowed per individual. Library cards expire biannually but can be renewed as long as all outstanding fines and fees are paid in full.

Can't remember when your books, music, and movies are due? Wondering about the status of that title you requested? Try "My Library Card" or "Library Elf" to keep track of what you have checked out and manage your account.

You have several options when it comes to paying fines: you may pay online by credit card or you may pay by cash, check, or credit card at any of our branch libraries.

You may renew items online, in-person at any of our six branches, or over the phone. For information on branch library locations, phone numbers, and hours, visit our Locations page.

To renew items online, login to our online catalog with your name and library card number. Once you are logged in, a list of items checked out on your library card will appear. You may also click on the My Account link near the top right of the screen from anywhere in the catalog once you are logged in.

"Why did my library card expire?"

Garfield County Libraries borrower cards have an "expiration" date, which simply acts as a reminder to confirm that your account information is current and correct. This helps us keep our database up-to-date and also helps us to remove old accounts which have been dormant for several years.

Wireless internet access ("Wi-Fi") is available at all six of our branches. Please read our Internet Use Policy.

The following instructions are general guidelines and require that you understand how to configure and restore the settings of your own computer, PDA (personal digital assistant), cell phone, or other wireless device. To use wireless internet access, your device must have a wireless card. Newer operating systems, like Windows XP (and later) and Mac OSX, are designed to automatically recognize wireless network signals.

Volunteers provide much-needed services at all of our Branch Libraries. These services vary by the volunteer’s personal interest and each branch library’s needs. Volunteer opportunities may involve:
Shelving materials;
Delivering library resources to homebound community members;
Helping with special events such as book sales or children's programs;
Helping to prepare storytime materials;
And much more!
