A Century of Change

The Rifle Branch Library was one of 10 libraries in the country chosen to host the traveling exhibition, Discover Earth: A Century of Change. This interactive exhibit will be in Rifle June 22nd - August 17th. Discover Earth is a museum-quality exhibit featuring interactive, multimedia displays such as a revolving computerized globe, multi-touch computers, simulation-based educational games, and more. These features allow visitors to interact with earth science in a dynamic way so as to encourage new perspectives of the planet. The Rifle Branch Library is excited to host a myriad of engaging programs and presentations for all ages on such relevant earth science topics.

Environmental Image Wall

During the last century, Western Colorado has seen a number of dramatic changes to its environmental climate. Signs of these changes are visible in the weather (droughts, floods, wild fires, avalanches, etc.), in the landscape (mining, drilling, dams, land settlement, etc. ) and in wildlife populations (dramatic increases and decreases of local populations). Help us create a photographic archive of the last 100 years in Western Colorado by submitting photos portraying environmental changes to the Discover Earth Photo Contest.

Update: Congratulations Steve Vanderleest, winner of the Discover Earth Photo Contest! For more information about how to submit photos and for contest details, see instructions the Discover Earth Image Wall. Photo Credit: ian parker/Evanescent Photography
