National Geographic Kids: Explore Countries of the World

 Learn about people, places, and interesting trivia from around the world on the National Geographic Kids' Countries webpage.

Travel.State.Gov from the U.S. Department of State

This database from the U.S. Department of State provides country specific information for every country of the world.  It is great for people planning on traveling internationally or those wanting to learn more about current political and social conditions in a specific nation.

In this database, you will find information like the location of the U.S. embassy and any consular offices; whether you need a visa; crime and security information; health and medical conditions; drug penalties; and localized hot spots. 

World Book Encyclopedia

World Book Encyclopedia Online is a reference source containing every article from the print set plus thousands more. It has state-of-the-art multimedia, maps, editor-reviewed Web sites and much more. The site also contains the World Book Online Reference Center, World Book Advanced, World Book Kids and a Spanish Language Encyclopedia.

World Factbook from the CIA

The World Factbook provides information on the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 267 world entities.
