A Day of Tap Dance

Your Garfield County Libraries and Aspen Dance Connection invite you to an interactive dance class with nationally acclaimed John “Mr. Tap” Williams! It’s free and open to all ages.

"Mr. Tap” grew up in Harlem, created the “Original Tap Barre” Harlem Mix Tap Dance Style and performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C. He performed in the Aspen Dance Connection’s show SHOES by ENGAGE MOVEMENT ARTS last July as master of ceremonies, storyteller, and tap dancer extraordinaire and was in a PBS Special with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra & Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble.

He performed on Animal Planet Television Series and with the Carnival Cruise Magic Legends Show. John was featured in the magazine In the Black as Denver’s own Mr. Tap Dance. He is a member of the International Association of Blacks In Dance and taught a Tap Master Class Series for them. He teaches Tap Dance at Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Studio and Colorado Ballet Academy in Denver. He received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the DU Dance Archive in 2020.
