Spring Lecture Series

The Garfield County Libraries are excited to present the return of the Spring Lecture Series at the Glenwood Springs Branch Library! Join us each Thursday in April from 5:30 to 7 p.m. to hear from local history experts about different topics that make the history of our valley, state, and towns a truly unique one.

April 6 • The Western Slope Veterans Coalition will present a panel on topics dealing with local veterans' history.

April 13 • Local historian Christi Couch will host Finding Colorado: Part 1 presented by the Glenwood Historical Society. Christi will present her explorations, research, and discoveries of our area's historic mines, ghost towns, and more. See past and present photos, share a story of your own and test your knowledge of the area with a little trivia.

April 20 • Local historian Christi Couch will host Finding Colorado: Part 2 presented by the Glenwood Historical Society.

April 27 • Dave Lively of Lively Tours and Talks will close the series with Lost Lodges of Rocky Mountain National Park. Do you know there were more than 30 lodges in Rocky Mountain National Park? Can you envision large resorts where elk and moose graze in pristine meadows today? Explore the transitions in lodging for visitors to Rocky Mountain National Park and share the thought–provoking search for balance between wilderness and hospitality unique to America’s first automobile based national park.
***Special note for the last event on April 27: Although the library will be closed, the main doors will open at 5:30 p.m. and the event will be held in the Community Room to the left.
